Weekly Update: November 23-29

I suppose it is officially acceptable to say happy holidays! Thanksgiving is over, it was fun, but I’m very glad it is done. This week has been pretty laid back. I’ve just a few smaller orders, and I got to do an interview for my “Discovering Vegans in Wyoming” series.

Thanksgiving went well. I just had my leftovers while everyone ate their traditional feast on Thanksgiving day. It was nice, but after having leftovers for three meals in a row, I felt like I never wanted to see them again. I know there are people out there that like the leftovers more than the actual feast itself, but I just can’t do it. I think there is something about the richness and extra hearty food that I struggle with. I had to really dig deep to find ways to repurpose those leftovers. I had the problem where I just couldn’t stand the flavors anymore, so I had to completely transform the leftovers in order to tolerate them.

I’m really excited about this holiday season. I am hoping to get orders for cookies. I have a really great spread, and some of them are really different! I always do these things so I can have fun, but at the same time I am trying to run a business and need to be able to cover costs so I can keep doing what I’m doing!

Speaking of business stuff, I have been in the middle of an important decision. Technically I am not a licensed business yet and there has been a lot of fear around that. I think a lot of that comes from the fact that I have no idea what steps I need to take, and I worry about things like taxes. I know that eventually I will become an official thing, but right now I’m just not sure when that will happen. I am just incredibly grateful that I have so many people that support me no matter where I am and what I do.┬áIts amazing knowing I have family, friends, and a whole community of vegans here that really appreciate what I am doing.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of interviewing another vegan! It was really great getting to talk to her and get to know about her story. We actually graduated high school in the same class, but never actually met each other! After much talking, we discovered we had a lot in common and knew a lot of the same people. I can’t wait to write about our talk and share it with everyone!

I really don’t have much else to share about this week. It has been really nice, and I finally feel caught up. I have had so much energy this week! I am just really excited about everything that comes with the holidays and the fact that I get to provide food for their celebrations.
